The ATTC network’s work directly supports the UK Government’s ambition to accelerate the set up and delivery of commercial clinical trials, as articulated through initiatives such as the Life Sciences Vision and the aim to restore the UK as a global destination of choice for innovative trials. By building specialist ATMP clinical trial skills, strengthening NHS site readiness, and embedding standardised, scalable delivery models across the UK, the ATTC network is reducing variation, mitigating operational risk, and enabling faster, more predictable trial activation. The high level of ATTC site participation in UK ATMP trials demonstrates how coordinated infrastructure and institutional readiness can support timely study set up and efficient delivery—critical enablers for attracting and retaining commercial investment in advanced therapies within the UK clinical research ecosystem.

The ATTC network has published a new report providing an overview of the UK’s Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product (ATMP) clinical trials landscape and how the UK is building institutional readiness to support delivery at scale.

Since 2018, the ATTC network has played a key role in building clinical trial skills and expertise and supporting NHS site readiness across the UK. Today, over two-thirds of UK ATMP clinical trials involve at least one ATTC-affiliated site, reflecting the network’s contribution to enabling safe, efficient, and scalable trial delivery.

The report explores the current UK ATMP clinical trial landscape, the key challenges in translating advanced therapies into clinical delivery, and how the ATTC network is supporting institutional readiness across clinical sites.
