Gene therapy shows great promise for treating many diseases and is a rapidly growing field. Several gene therapies are now licensed medicines and the number is steadily increasing. This webinar provides an introduction to gene therapy and is of interest to anyone involved in either treating patients with gene therapy or looking after patients that have received gene therapy.

The clinical development of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) presents unique challenges. Whilst they may be transformative for patients, their optimal design, clinical delivery and long-term benefits are still to be determined. Innovative clinical trial design allows for trials to be adapted to emerging clinical data and manufacturing innovation resulting in potential improved speed and efficiency of trials, shortened time to market and ultimately accelerating patient access to treatments. Also central to this work is the ability to assess and improve institutional readiness (IR) of hospitals and clinics to implement this innovation in the clinical delivery of ATMPs as more of these new therapies enter clinical studies and reach market authorisation. Such innovation requires close collaboration between developers, regulators, payers and clinical trial sites to ensure evidence requirements are met. The Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult, Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) and UK BioIndustry Association (BIA) jointly invite you to explore the interfaces in these collaborations and to specifically identify and discuss areas for improvements and key recommendations.
