Supporting bodies

We work with a number of supporting bodies to fund, deliver and support the work of each of our centres.

MHRA innovation office

The MHRA regulatory centre

The MHRA regulates medicines, medical devices and blood components for transfusion, and is responsible for ensuring their effectiveness.

The MHRA supports the ATTC project by providing regulatory advice through the MHRA Innovation Office and the Regulatory Advice Service for Regenerative Medicine https://www.gov.uk/government/groups/mhra-innovation-office

NICE - National Institute for Health and Care Excellence

National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE)

NICE is responsible for improving health and social care through evidence based guidance. In England, NICE plays a pivotal role in decisions regarding patient access to new treatments.

NICE has been active in considering methodological issues associated with the evaluation of cell and gene therapies and has issued guidance to the NHS on a number of such products. NICE is supportive of the ATTC network in putting in place the expertise and infrastructure to ensure that clinically and cost effective advanced therapies are deployed to the benefit of NHS patients.
